The Gin & Tonic

The Gin & Tonic is the iconic cocktail for gin lovers, a simple yet refined drink that highlights the botanical aromas of gin while being ultra-refreshing.

A military and medicinal history

The history of the Gin & Tonic dates back to the 19th century, when British colonists and soldiers stationed in India were required to consume cinchona to protect themselves from malaria. However, cinchona, rich in quinine (the active ingredient), was extremely bitter. To make it more palatable, they mixed it with sparkling water, sugar, lemon, and… gin, which they had in abundance thanks to English distillation.

This is how the Gin & Tonic was born, transforming itself from a colonial medicine into an elegant and essential cocktail in cocktail bars and terraces around the world.
